Store The Word is a free, donation-supported Scripture memorization and Bible study app designed for personal spiritual growth.
We recognize that the information people record while studying Scripture may be unusually personal. Prayer requests, verse applications, KFCA responses, personal notes, and similar records may contain information about a person’s faith, marriage, family, struggles, counseling, health, relationships, or other sensitive circumstances.
This Privacy Policy explains what information Store The Word collects, how we use and protect it, when it may be disclosed, and the choices you have regarding your information.
Store The Word exists to help people hide God’s Word in their hearts, pray, study Scripture, and apply it personally. Those activities can involve deeply sensitive information. We therefore design private study records to remain private unless you deliberately choose to share them.
Store The Word is designed around a simple principle: Your private spiritual records are for you unless you intentionally choose to share them.
Store The Word does not sell personal information or Private Spiritual Content. We do not use Private Spiritual Content for advertising, marketing profiles, member profiling, ministry evaluation, pastoral monitoring, or artificial-intelligence training.
Pastors, elders, counselors, church staff, other church members, and other Store The Word users do not receive access to your Private Spiritual Content merely because they use Store The Word or belong to the same church as you.
Store The Word does not provide church leaders with a dashboard for browsing members’ private prayers, Bible-study applications, KFCA responses, or similar private records.
For purposes of this Policy, Private Spiritual Content means personal content that you create or save in Store The Word and have not intentionally chosen to share. Depending on the features you use, this may include:
Private Spiritual Content may also include photos, images, documents, PDFs, audio, or other files that you intentionally attach to a private record.
Private Spiritual Content is private by default unless a particular feature clearly indicates that you are sharing or publishing it.
When this Policy describes information as private, we mean that:
“Private” does not mean that information is necessarily end-to-end encrypted. Store The Word and certain infrastructure providers may be technically capable of processing stored data as necessary to operate the service.
The optional local encryption feature changes this for the content it covers: encrypted content is stored as unreadable scrambled text and cannot be read without your passphrase under any circumstance.
Store The Word offers an optional local encryption feature you can turn on in Settings. When enabled, supported personal content — including KFCA studies, notes, prayers, and habit names and notes — is encrypted (scrambled) in your browser before it is saved. The database stores only unreadable scrambled text.
Encrypted content cannot be read under any circumstance without your passphrase — not by Store The Word, its administrators, or its providers; not by anyone who gains access to the stored data; and not in response to a legal request. There is no back door and no recovery mechanism.
Your passphrase is never uploaded to Store The Word or its providers. The key that unlocks your content is derived from your passphrase on your device. We store only a non-secret salt and verifier that allow the same passphrase to work on your other devices; these cannot be used to recover your passphrase or decrypt your content.
Because only you hold the passphrase, if you lose it there is no way to recover your encrypted content. Store The Word cannot decrypt it, reset it, or restore access to it. Please record your passphrase somewhere safe before enabling this feature.
If you turn the feature off, your content is decrypted and stored as plain text again on that device. Copies on other devices that still have encryption enabled remain encrypted until they are unlocked and re-saved.
The feature protects only the content types listed in Settings. Content you intentionally share with groups or other users, and non-content records such as memorization progress and leaderboards, are not encrypted by this feature.
We collect information needed to create and operate your account, such as:
We use this information to identify your account, sign you in, secure your records, communicate with you, and operate the service.
We store the Private Spiritual Content you choose to create so that Store The Word can provide the features you request.
The fact that Store The Word stores this information does not give us permission to use it for unrelated purposes.
We may store information such as:
Some of this information may itself reveal information about your spiritual study habits, so we treat account-level activity with care.
We may collect limited information needed to maintain, secure, and improve the service, such as:
Our analytics are designed not to include the text of Private Spiritual Content.
Where reasonably practicable, we also avoid placing user-entered Private Spiritual Content in URLs, analytics event names, page titles, logs, or similar metadata.
Store The Word keeps limited leaderboard records so community members can compare memorization activity. These records include an internal account identifier, a display name, current streak, best streak, total review count, weekly review count, memorized verse count, and the user’s rank for streaks, total reviews, weekly reviews, and verses memorized. Leaderboard snapshots also keep aggregate registered-user counts, weekly participant counts, total reviews, longest streak, and the dates when the snapshot and week began.
By default, the leaderboard assigns an anonymous display name in the format Animal1234. You may change your display name in Settings or on the Community page; only if you choose a different display name will that name appear publicly. Your email address is not displayed to other users on the leaderboards.
Leaderboards do not display the text of your verses, review answers, prayer requests, KFCA responses, personal notes, or other Private Spiritual Content.
We use information collected through Store The Word only as reasonably necessary to:
We do not sell, rent, trade, or license Private Spiritual Content or member lists to advertisers or data brokers.
Store The Word contains no third-party advertising and does not provide advertisers with access to prayer requests, study responses, account records, or other Private Spiritual Content.
Store The Word is a personal Bible-study and Scripture-memory service. Your church’s use of Store The Word does not automatically give your church access to your private records.
A pastor, elder, counselor, ministry leader, employer, family member, or other person cannot obtain your Private Spiritual Content from Store The Word merely by asking for it.
If Store The Word offers church, course, counseling, classroom, or group features, those features will identify what information is being shared. Private Spiritual Content will not automatically become visible simply because you join a church, class, group, course, or ministry.
Store The Word does not provide administrators with access for browsing members’ Private Spiritual Content.
However, unless you use the optional local encryption feature, Store The Word is not an end-to-end encrypted service. A limited number of authorized technical personnel or service providers may be technically capable of accessing stored data.
This technical capability never extends to content you encrypt: that content cannot be read without your passphrase under any circumstance.
Such access is permitted only when reasonably necessary for a legitimate operational purpose, such as:
Any such access should be limited to the information reasonably necessary for the particular purpose.
These exceptions do not permit general browsing of members’ prayers, reflections, applications, or other Private Spiritual Content.
Nor do they permit reading content encrypted with the local encryption feature — no one can read that content without your passphrase.
Store The Word does not use Private Spiritual Content to train general-purpose artificial intelligence models.
Store The Word does not send the text of private prayer requests, KFCA responses, verse applications, personal notes, or similar Private Spiritual Content to third-party artificial-intelligence providers.
We may use analytics to understand general service usage and improve Store The Word.
Analytics are not intended to record the text of prayer requests, KFCA responses, verse applications, personal notes, or other Private Spiritual Content.
We do not use analytics to create spiritual profiles, assign spiritual-health scores, evaluate members’ faithfulness, or report private spiritual activity to church leaders.
We do not use words or subjects contained in your Private Spiritual Content to generate pastoral alerts, behavioral profiles, ministry reports, or church-leader notifications.
If you enable notifications or reminders, information may appear on your device’s lock screen or notification center depending on your device settings. Store The Word will avoid including Private Spiritual Content in notifications unless a feature clearly indicates that the content may appear there.
You are responsible for configuring your device’s notification-preview settings if other people may have access to your device.
Store The Word does not routinely monitor Private Spiritual Content for indications of self-harm, abuse, criminal activity, marital problems, theological concerns, or other personal issues.
Store The Word is not a crisis-monitoring or emergency-response service.
If information indicating an imminent risk of serious physical harm comes to our attention—for example, because a user sends that information to us in a support request—we may disclose information when we reasonably and in good faith believe doing so is necessary to address the emergency or when disclosure is otherwise required by law.
Do not rely on Store The Word to contact a pastor, counselor, emergency service, or other person on your behalf.
Private Spiritual Content is not shared simply because another person uses Store The Word.
If Store The Word provides a feature that lets you intentionally:
the content you intentionally select may be provided to the audience identified by that feature.
Please review what you are sharing before submitting it.
Once information has been intentionally shared with another person, that person may copy, save, screenshot, forward, or otherwise retain it outside Store The Word. Store The Word cannot always retrieve or erase copies held by recipients.
Store The Word may support different visibility levels:
Store The Word will not change Private Spiritual Content into shared or public content without an action you take that clearly indicates the intended audience.
Files or images that you upload to a private record are treated according to the same privacy settings as that record. They are not made public or shared with church leaders or other users unless you intentionally use a feature that shares them.
Uploaded files may be stored and processed by Store The Word’s infrastructure providers as necessary to provide the service.
Store The Word may request access to certain device features only when needed for a feature you choose to use. For example, photo access may be requested if you choose to attach an image to a record, and notification permission may be requested if you enable reminders.
Granting these permissions is optional unless the feature requires them. Store The Word does not use device permissions for unrelated purposes.
Prayer requests and personal notes sometimes contain information about people who do not use Store The Word.
Please use discretion when recording information about others.
Where practical, avoid unnecessary identifying details, especially when recording information about another person’s:
Store only the level of detail reasonably necessary for your personal use, and do not use Store The Word to unlawfully publish or distribute another person’s private information.
If you choose to sign in using Google, Google may provide Store The Word with basic account information such as your name, email address, and an authentication identifier.
We use that information to create, identify, and authenticate your Store The Word account.
Signing in with Google does not give Store The Word access to your Gmail messages, Google Drive files, contacts, or other Google account information unless a separate feature specifically requests access and you explicitly authorize it.
Store The Word does not post to your Google account on your behalf merely because you use Google Sign-In.
We may send service-related communications necessary to operate your account, such as security notices, account messages, or significant service changes.
If Store The Word sends optional newsletters, ministry updates, fundraising communications, or similar promotional messages, you may unsubscribe from those communications without closing your Store The Word account. Unsubscribing from optional communications may not prevent necessary account or security messages.
Store The Word may contain links to websites or services operated by others. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, not this Privacy Policy. We encourage you to review the privacy practices of a third-party service before providing information to it.
Store The Word uses third-party companies and infrastructure providers to perform functions necessary to operate the service. These may include providers for:
These providers may process information only as necessary to provide the relevant service or as otherwise permitted by their agreements and applicable law.
They are not given Private Spiritual Content for their own advertising or marketing purposes.
Store The Word and its service providers may process or store information in the United States and potentially other countries in which their infrastructure operates. Data-protection laws in those locations may differ from those in your place of residence.
Donations are processed through third-party payment providers.
Those providers may collect information necessary to process a payment, such as:
Store The Word does not store your full payment-card number unless we expressly tell you otherwise.
Payment providers maintain their own records subject to their own privacy policies and legal obligations.
Store The Word uses administrative, technical, and platform-level safeguards intended to protect user information from unauthorized access, use, alteration, or disclosure.
These safeguards include account authentication and owner-based access controls designed to prevent one member from accessing another member’s private records.
Access to production information is intended to be limited to people and systems with a legitimate operational need.
No online service can guarantee absolute security. You should:
Please report suspected unauthorized access through the Store The Word Contact page.
If Store The Word experiences a security incident for which applicable law requires notification, we will provide legally required notices within the required timeframe.
We retain account information and user-created content while reasonably necessary to provide Store The Word and until it is deleted or your account is removed, subject to limited exceptions.
We may retain certain records for a limited period when reasonably necessary for:
We do not intend to retain Private Spiritual Content indefinitely after it has been deleted from active use.
Where the app provides a delete function, deleting a record removes it from normal active use.
Deleted information may remain temporarily in backups, system logs, or disaster-recovery systems until those systems are overwritten through their normal retention cycles.
Backup copies are not intended to remain available through ordinary user or administrative interfaces.
You may delete your Store The Word account and associated personal content under Settings in the app.
Following deletion, certain limited records may be retained when reasonably necessary for security, legal, fraud-prevention, or financial-accounting purposes.
Information you previously chose to share with another person may remain in that person’s possession and cannot always be recalled.
Store The Word intends to make it reasonably possible for users to preserve personally meaningful records.
Where an in-app export feature is available, you may use it to retrieve supported account content.
If no self-service export feature is available for particular records, the Store The Word Contact page is the sole channel for requesting an export.
Content encrypted with the local encryption feature can be exported in readable form only while you know your passphrase.
Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights concerning your personal information, including the ability to:
Some rights vary by jurisdiction. Requests may be submitted through the Contact page, and Store The Word may take reasonable steps to verify that a request relates to your account.
Store The Word does not voluntarily provide Private Spiritual Content to pastors, churches, employers, family members, or other third parties simply because they request it.
We may preserve or disclose information when we reasonably believe disclosure is required by applicable law, a valid court order, subpoena, or other legally binding process.
Where legally permitted and reasonably practicable, Store The Word may notify the affected user before disclosing Private Spiritual Content in response to legal process.
Content encrypted with the optional local encryption feature cannot be decrypted or provided in readable form in response to legal process, because only you hold the passphrase; at most, the unreadable encrypted text could be produced.
Store The Word is an independent personal study and Scripture-memory service.
Unless Store The Word expressly states otherwise for a particular feature, using the app does not create:
The fact that you write something in Store The Word that you might otherwise discuss with a pastor or counselor does not necessarily make that information legally privileged.
Store The Word is not an official confidential counseling channel or emergency communication system.
Store The Word is not directed to children under 13.
Users under 13 may not independently create a Store The Word account unless Store The Word has implemented a legally compliant parental-consent process that expressly allows such accounts.
If we learn that we have collected personal information directly from a child under 13 without legally sufficient parental authorization, we will take appropriate steps to delete that information.
Parents or guardians who believe a child under 13 has created an account may contact us through the Contact page.
If Store The Word is involved in a merger, acquisition, reorganization, asset transfer, or similar change in ownership, account information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
Store The Word will not treat Private Spiritual Content as a marketing database or sell it separately as a commercial data asset.
Any successor operating Store The Word will be expected to continue honoring the privacy protections applicable to Private Spiritual Content.
If a proposed change would materially reduce those protections, we intend to provide users with notice and, where reasonably practicable, an opportunity to delete or export their information before the new practices take effect.
Store The Word may not operate forever.
If we permanently discontinue the service and it is reasonably practicable to do so, we intend to provide users with advance notice and a reasonable opportunity to export or retrieve supported personal content before active systems are permanently shut down.
After shutdown, remaining information will be deleted or allowed to expire from backup systems according to applicable retention requirements and technical capabilities.
We may update this Privacy Policy as Store The Word changes.
If we make a material change affecting the way Private Spiritual Content is collected, used, or disclosed, we will provide reasonable notice before the change takes effect.
We will not begin using previously collected Private Spiritual Content for advertising, marketing profiles, general-purpose AI training, or unrelated commercial purposes merely because this Privacy Policy has been updated.
The “Last updated” date at the top of this page identifies the current version.
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy, your information, account deletion, an export request, or a suspected privacy or security issue, please contact us through the Store The Word Contact page.
